Kristin is the author of Colorful Stitchery a book that encourages and inspires stitchers and knitters alike with dozens of projects to brighten and warm any home.  Pillow covers, napkins, tablecloths, blankets and throws all become decorative focal points when enhanced with stitched floral motifs or color-saturated polka dots. She will introduce her latest book Kristin Knits, a book that encourages readers to conquer their color inhibitions, learn basic color theory and create personally satisfying fiber palettes. Her distinctive palette, influenced by Indian and French provincial textiles is recognizable in each of her designs.

A slide presentation by Fronia Wissman, Art Historian

Not Ready to Wear: Contemporary Knitting.
An increasing number of contemporary artists have turned to knitting as an art form rather than as a means to make something to wear. These people, excitingly both men and women, use knitting to raise questions about craft, activism, and gender, while making objects that range in size from sweaters 2 1/2 inches high made with silk thread to pieces the size of small houses. As with all contemporary art, the meaning of these knitted pieces is sometimes obscure, but they are all fascinating.

Knit Along The Sweater Workshop way.
Knit along with other guild members over the next few months and you will make a sweater for yourself that fits! We will use The Sweater Workshop by Jackie Fee. Jackie’s book is a user friendly guide that is a miracle of clarity, thoroughness and reassuring advice. At this meeting you will learn the key number method, get advice on your specific project and be ready to go home and start construction.

Her work has been on the backs of celebrities and super models, from Racquel Welch and Vanna White to Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. She is the author of Knit and Crochet with Beads, The Urban Knitter, and Mosaic Magic, and she has written the “On Designing” column for Knitter’s Magazine and the annual “Focus on Fibers” report for Knit ‘n Style.

Lily says, "Have you ever wondered where ideas come from? Where do designers draw their inspiration from? How do they interpret their ideas into reality? What problems arise? What challenges are posed? What details do they specifically look for? What special tools are involved? See the many examples of source and result in this show-and-tell lecture."
