Annual Holiday Party - Cookie Swap with prizes - Gift donations to The Women’s Lunch Place:
In past years we have swapped gifts at the Holiday party. This is a nice idea, but it is difficult to find a gift when we are all frequent buyers at local yarn shops. Rather than give to each other, let us give to a woman in need. To participate bring a unwrapped gift to donate to a woman who frequents The Women’s Lunch Place…toiletries, hat, gloves, mittens, scarf… something cheerful to brighten a woman’s life.

Adriene Sloane is a fiber artist whose works have won prizes including the KGA Best in Show in Machine Knitting and been displayed in museums and galleries including The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Knitting shapes have long been defined by the human form. By moving the context of knitting from clothing geometry to sculpture, knitting becomes a medium with a link to a rich and complex fiber tradition that has the power of history behind it. To be able to turn a single strand of yarn into fiber building blocks with form and function, texture and color is also energizingly low tech.
